About Sonchiraiya
Sone' represents our rich, glorious heriatge and 'Chiraiya' indicates that protection which the entire universe needs.
"Such us our folk culture, such are our folk arts, which have been the most powerful expression of our culture since eternity, the most sacred carriers. Whatever happens in the society, the folk accepted its positive side and by molding it in their thinking arising out of a long contemplation, returned it back to the society – sometimes as a song, sometimes as a folk tradition, sometimes as a proverb, some folktale or sometimes in the form of folk staging, folk drama, folk dance. Folk acceptance is the practice of a tradition of thinking, which has the lessons of life, understanding, interest, concern. There is no restriction of classicalism in this. lt has a free flight of mind. "
'The folk culture of India is its lifeforce. There is an urgent need to upgrade this lifeforce to match with modernity.''

Malini Awasthi
In today's time, the voice of folk music that resonates most loudly in your ears, one who has the most important role in making folk music the familiar squeal in the courtyards and bringing the sacred culture of India to the youth, a face who is synonymous with great folk traditions of India.
Malini Awasthi, the dearest student of Padma Vibhushan awardee, an erudite singer Late Girijadevi, took formal education in music from many teachers. After learning the basics of classical music, she was the one who realised and showed a beautiful balance of that with the earthiness of the folk music. Kajri, Dadra, Sohar, Banna, Jhula And Holi, Chaiti or Nirguna – the one who by giving an effective presentation of these old singing styles in a new way, gave prominence to new experiments in folk music.
